What does an integration look like for my company?
Your integration depends on which of our services you use and the complexity of your environment. Generally, we can complete integration with your systems within a couple of weeks, including testing. Bigger, more complex integrations usually take 1 – 2 months.
Can we get our data back?
Yes. It’s your data, and TokenEx is simply a custodian of the data you entrust to our care. You may access the data whenever you want it without fines or penalties, and we will get it back to you as quickly as we can. Bottom line, we will never hold your data hostage.
Do you work in the Healthcare and Financial Industries?
Absolutely! TokenEx handles all types of data, including structured and unstructured formats in all industries. From de-identification of patient data to tokenizing financial account information, we already have the solutions in place to handle just about any data you send to us
What latency does TokenEx introduce to a transaction?
There are a few minor variables involved, but depending on where you’re located, the latency we introduce is negligible; usually less than 300 milliseconds in North America.
Does TokenEx offer traditional brick and mortar solutions?
TokenEx absolutely compliments our eCommerce solutions with brick-and-mortar capabilities. We’re already in traditional businesses with our service lines, as well as offer Point-to-Point Encryption (P2PE).
Are your tokens single or multi-use, and, are they format preserving?
The type and format of your token scheme is completely configurable by you, depending on how you want to secure your data. We support single and multi-use tokens. Moreover, we have multiple token schemes for our customers to use, including format-preserving and otherwise.
How is your solution better than an on-premise tokenization solution?
This is a much longer discussion than this FAQ page will support. Essentially, an On-premise Encryption/Tokenization solution will never truly meet your data security needs. All of your sensitive data remains in your environment, therefore you are still in compliance/scope. The goal of true cloud tokenization is to remove ALL sensitive data from your environment, while significantly reducing your compliance. The On-Premise solution is radically more expensive and if you are breached, then you only have one layer of security. All of that data is still in your environment, and you’re ultimately responsible for it. With TokenEx, however, your data is stored out of your environment and therefore it’s out of your compliance responsibility.
Do you support “my” payment gateway? TokenEx supports any gateway. If we are not currently integrated with your gateway, we will put it in our queue and integrate as quickly as possible. Also, TokenEx is not limited to just payment gateways. We will integrate with other service providers our customers use, such as fraud prevention or data escrow companies.
Do your eCommerce solutions get everything out of scope for PCI?
Anyone who tells you that their solution will get you completely out of scope is being less than honest. That is the reality we deal with every day. The TokenEx eCommerce solutions are designed to get everything, but your web servers out of scope for PCI. That doesn’t include the soft controls within the PCI Data Security Standard, like Security Awareness Training and maintaining Vendor contracts. However, it does include a significant number of the technical controls, which make up a majority of the costs associated with becoming PCI compliant.
Are your services fault tolerant and what does your availability look like on a regular basis?
Yes, TokenEx maintains a fully fault-tolerant environment within each of our facilities and we are redundant across facilities. We take our availability very seriously. In fact, we take it so seriously that we make our uptime, monitored by an independent 3rd party, available for our customers and prospects to see at any time in our portal.
How does TokenEx price their services?
TokenEx pricing is based on utilization. We don’t price per transaction because we’re not a processor or a payment gateway – we’re a data security platform! Utilization is based on a few different components. The two components that impact our pricing the most are the number of records you intend to store with TokenEx, and the second piece is how you interact with these records. Once we understand this information, at a minimum, we can provide very granular pricing.
How does your solution help if I’m breached?
Data breaches are costly, both in terms of fines for losing the data and in terms of lost business. The Ponemon Institute estimates that the cost of a data breach is around $150 per record lost. Multiply that by a few hundred, or a few hundred thousand, and you can see how a data breach can wipe some businesses out completely. TokenEx helps you stay protected by removing the risk of a breach from your systems. With TokenEx, you don’t store sensitive data in your systems, only tokens. That means if they’re stolen, you didn’t lose any real data, and you don’t pay any fines or send out breach notifications. Your data, your customers, and your business are all safe. If you do suffer a breach, you still need to take steps to improve your security and lock down your environment. TokenEx simply protects you from the costs associated with losing valuable sensitive data.
